AWS detailed a sample MCP server that migrates Amazon Quick agents and related resources between accounts with previews, permission handling, and backups.
AWS published a sample approach on October 5, 2026, for moving Amazon Quick resources from development to production accounts. The proposed Quick Resource Migrator is an MCP server hosted on Amazon Bedrock AgentCore; it is presented as a way to automate a process that otherwise can require teams to recreate resources and permissions by hand.
The tool can migrate agents, action connectors, knowledge bases, flows, and spaces. Users select resource types and choose items by ID, name, or all. A read-only preview shows what would be created or updated before migration. The operation is an upsert: it creates missing resources and updates existing ones, and AWS says rerunning it is intended to converge on the same target state rather than create duplicates.
The design includes permission handling and safeguards for updates. Before changing an existing target resource, the migrator stores a versioned snapshot in Amazon S3; a restore tool can apply a saved version, with another backup taken before restoration. The example uses a central runner account, a read-only role in the source account, and a read-write role in the target account. AWS says the setup uses AWS Security Token Service to assume these roles rather than storing long-lived credentials.
There are limits to what transfers. Connector credentials are replaced with placeholders and must be authenticated again in the target account. For S3-backed knowledge bases, the tool creates the destination bucket, policy, and data source, but does not copy the underlying S3 documents. AWS describes this as a sample implementation: teams deploy the components and adapt the pattern to their own governance requirements.
