OpenAI launched a Brazilian Portuguese version of its free AI for Educators course and highlighted ChatGPT Study Mode’s question-led learning features.
OpenAI announced on October 15, 2026, that its AI for Educators course is available in Brazilian Portuguese through OpenAI Academy, the company’s free learning platform. The course is intended for primary, secondary and higher-education educators, and covers using AI to plan lessons, create activities and assessments, and prepare communications while retaining teachers’ pedagogical judgment.
The announcement also describes how teachers and students can use Study Mode in ChatGPT. The feature guides a learner through a subject with questions, hints, explanations and checks for understanding. OpenAI says it was developed with teachers, scientists and pedagogy experts, with the aim of encouraging active participation and reflection on the learner’s reasoning.
Students can select Study from ChatGPT’s tools menu. OpenAI’s example has a student studying enzymes ask for one question at a time, with feedback to help identify areas that need review. Teachers can also test the feature with subjects they know, evaluating whether its questions encourage reasoning and whether its explanations fit their class.
The post offers an example of a classroom activity on evaporation: students investigate why clothes dry on a clothesline, use Study Mode to explore the topic, then write their own explanation and a question for class discussion without consulting the conversation. A teacher can use those responses to identify ideas the class may need to revisit.
The course’s Portuguese launch and the Study Mode examples were presented in an announcement tied to Teachers’ Day. OpenAI frames the tools as support for educators’ work, not a replacement for teachers’ knowledge of their students. The post does not announce changes to Study Mode’s availability or a broader rollout beyond the course’s Brazilian Portuguese version.
